Leather Rose

The perfect gift for someone who loves flowers but hates to watch them die, this handmade leather rose is made from full grain, premium aniline leather from Badalassi Carlo, an Italian tannery well known for their traditional vegetable tanning methods using tree barks that go back hundreds of years.

The petals are cut from pullup leather, whose waxes and oils add beautiful depth to the leather. The leaves are Minerva, a vacchetta leather that is infused with a special blend of Italian waxes giving it the famous hand and feel attributed with the vacchetta name.

After hand cutting the leaves and petals, they are carefully thinned to a light, delicate thickness and a protective finish is hand painted along on the edges of each piece. Then the pieces are gently wet-formed into shape around a bead that forms the flower's pistil.
